e2v drives further global growth in imaging

Following growth of 26% in its imaging business last year, e2v, the imaging solutions provider, has strengthened the senior leadership within its High Performance Imaging division, by creating two complementary streams: Professional Imaging and Space Imaging.

The Professional Imaging business, led by Francois Thouret, and now incorporating the newly acquired AnaFocus CMOS business, will focus on commercial imaging products and services, building on e2v’s success in machine vision, medical imaging, science and thermal imaging markets.

The Space Imaging business, led by Marc Saunders, will further develop e2v’s relationships with global space agencies and primes including organisations such as ESA, NASA, JAXA, Airbus Defence and Space, Thales Alenia Space and Ball Aerospace.

Francois Thouret, who has been with e2v for seven years, has taken on the role of President of Professional Imaging. On 4 September 2014, e2v announced the completion of its acquisition of Spanish company AnaFocus, which designs and develops CMOS imaging sensors and vision systems for the industrial, scientific and high-end surveillance markets. AnaFocus will become an integral part of e2v’s Professional Imaging business and will help define and deliver the sector strategy for growth.

Francois Thouret commented, “The acquisition of AnaFocus is a key milestone on our journey to grow our business. The acquisition strengthens our position and market share by extending our value proposition for customer specific CMOS image sensors into high-growth market segments.”

Marc Saunders, who joined e2v in2012 as Marketing and Technology Director, has taken on the role of President of Space Imaging. e2v has an established position as a leading manufacturer of imaging devices for space exploration and Earth observation for the world’s largest space agencies. e2v’s Space Imaging business has already seen over 70 new jobs created in the past year (following a £3.8m Regional Growth Fund grant).  Marc and his team will continue to drive growth by further advancing e2v’s capabilities in the field of imaging focal plane arrays and control sub-systems.

Marc Saunders commented, “The changes we are making, with the creation of more agile customer-focused business areas, will put us in the best possible position to accelerate growth.”
