e2v apprentices raise over £3,000 for charity

Nine of local technology company e2v’s apprentices have raised £3,312.98 for Haven’s Hospice, Cancer Research and The Brathay Trust, as part of their final task in the ‘The Brathay Apprentice Challenge’- the official search to find the ‘apprentice team of the year’.

‘The Brathay Apprentice Challenge’ aims to encourage teams of apprentices from across the country to prove their team building, leadership, logistical and communications skills through a number of challenges and local e2v apprentices beat hundreds, as they made the national finals which will take place on June 11th.

As part of the final challenge to be crowned ‘apprentice team of the year’ they were tasked to raise money for two chosen charities as well as The Brathay Trust and have spent the past eight weeks fundraising through a number of successful events including, race nights, curry nights, cake sales, raffles, and auctions.

e2v Apprentice and team leader George Williams (19) commented, “ I was so happy to be able to hand over the money to our charities today. We have worked really hard over the past few weeks organising and carrying out all our fundraising activities. The team of guys have been awesome and really put their heart and soul into raising this money and it was amazing to see the ladies come and get the money and see them smiling from ear to ear.”

The team today handed over £1406.49 to both Havens Hospice and Cancer Research UK. They also sent £500 earlier this week to the Brathay Trust.
